A gallery like no other, this open air mausoleum is a silent monument, a place for reflection and solace, soul searching.
No more magical setting than the thick green rainforest of the Dandenong ranges which skirt Melbourne’s north eastern city limits. The rainforest frames each "still life" piece, a moving picture, the background swaying in the breeze.
As you enter the sanctuary from the information centre you are greeted by the gatekeepers welcoming you to this Sacred Space.
Truly an immersive experience one is overwhelmed by the sheer sensory input. A life’s work, you feel as though you are walking on hallowed ground with each step take, each exhibit an alter to a sacred spirit embodied within the clay.
William Ricketts Sanctuary combines high art, hiking and history into an unforgettable cultural experience. You can wander for hours losing all track of time venturing around the garden maze, something magical at every turn.
